Why stillwater exists
There was a point in my life where I wasn't trying to “figure things out” or build anything. I was just trying to get through the day.
When everything disappeared at once
I had come out of an abusive relationship. I ended up homeless. I lost my job. And I found myself in a place where everything that normally gives life structure had disappeared at once.
What surprised me wasn't just the situation itself — it was how invisible it felt.
On the outside, life keeps moving. People assume you're okay because you're still showing up, still replying, still functioning. But inside, you can feel completely disconnected from yourself, from others, and from any sense of direction.
What I actually needed
At that time, I didn't need a diagnosis. I didn't need a label. I didn't even really know how to describe what I was feeling.
What I needed was understanding.
Not someone to fix me. Not something to classify me. Just something that could help me make sense of what was happening inside my own head.
That gap stayed with me.
Because even when support exists, there's often a step missing before people reach it — the step where they begin to understand themselves well enough to know what they need in the first place.
Before answers, there needs to be understanding.
What stillwater is built around
That's what stillwater is built around.
stillwater isn't here to diagnose you. It's not here to replace professional care or tell you who you are. It's here to help you notice patterns, understand your thoughts and feelings more clearly, and give you a starting point when everything feels unclear.
The idea is simple: before answers, there needs to be understanding. And understanding doesn't have to wait until things get worse.
“You don't have to face life alone” isn't a slogan.
It's a reminder of what I wish I had at the time — something steady when everything felt uncertain. stillwater is my attempt to build that thing for someone else.
